Millennium Learning System Level - 2
Class 6 and 7
In Millennium Learning System, level II, our young learners move to class 6 and 7. True to its belief, MLS once more moulds itself to the needs of these learners. They now want to know why they should study what we want them to! They also start thinking about the future and what they would like to become. They start realizing that they are better in certain skills and want to know how they can make the most of these in their lives.
Since the learners are getting ready for adulthood, they are taught to apply their problem-solving skills with focus and decisive insight to real-world situations. Throughout this stage, students are exposed to over 300 vocations and guided as they uncover their destiny in life.
This stage of the Millennium Learning System equips a child with the ability to plan their future role as a valued leader and influencer in society, resulting in a focused career and happy life. It is this predictive capability that defines the Millennium Learning System as the true ‘Science of Education’.
Each chapter in class 6 is narrated by a protagonist, well known in a particular field, who satisfies their need for role models to look up to. The content (subject matter) is the medium through which the protagonist links his/her past success to what the future holds for the learners. This means that although the protagonist is an expert in his/her field, the protagonist does not compel the learners to emulate him/her. Instead, the protagonist sets the importance of how the content being studied will help the learners in their present day routines and activities and how it will benefit them in future vocations too. Thus, learners are linked to the past by being made aware of the experiences of the protagonist while learning to use them in the present and simultaneously being guided to a futuristic profession.
In class 7, we introduce and highlight people from various fields who, through hard work, talent, dedication or education have been able to achieve their dreams. In this series, our attempt is to reach out to learners through contemporary role models who are experts with their own success stories in their respective vocational fields. The focus of this series is not to highlight the role models, but to emphasise how the knowledge being imparted to the learners can help them succeed in different fields. These contemporary role models not only help build the general awareness of the learners, but also help them relate the concepts learnt to the professions that can be pursued later. This approach helps the learners understand the concepts by connecting the knowledge with the real world and also appreciating the relevance of what is being taught.
In order to ensure that the education given within the school enables our children to become life-long learners equipped with twenty first century skills and able to harness their learning to the maximum, both in their personal and professional lives, we followed the philosophy based on the motto, “Igniting
aspirations and moulding destinies”. To ensure that this motto is achieved, we redefined the way education should be imparted within the school through the Millennium Learning System Level -II.
A unique aspect in MLS II is the Apprentice approach, through which the learners get a chance to apply their knowledge as an apprentice in a professional field. This complementary set of books are designed to develop skills as well as to get a taste of working in different vocations for every chapter in every class.
